William “Bill” E. Goshert, 86, Warsaw, died Monday at Miller’s Merry Manor in Warsaw. He was a former Portland High School coach.
Born in Mentone to Ronald Andy and Ruth (Burt) Goshert, he is survived by his wife Delores “Dede” (Hume) Goshert whom he married on Nov. 3, 1946, in Richmond.
He was a 1945 graduate of Warsaw Community High School, received a master’s degree in education from North Manchester University and retired from Warsaw Community School in 1987 after 40 years as a teacher, football coach and business manager. He had also coached football at Portland High School from 1955 until 1957.
A veteran of the United States Navy, he was a member of Fort Wayne Masonic Lodge, Retired Teachers Association of Indiana, Rosella Golf Course and Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Ann Seward (husband: Taylor), Warsaw, and Sherry Stultz (husband: Charlie), South Bend; a son, Rocky Goshert (wife: Joy), Warsaw; a sister, Martha Houser, Fort Wayne; seven grandsons; nine great-grandchildren; an uncle; a nephew and a niece.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Titus Funeral Home in Warsaw with lay leader Lee Harman officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw with military honors conducted by Warsaw American Legion Post No. 49 and VFW Post No. 1126. Visitation is 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be sent to Kosciusko Home Care and Hospice, P.O. Box 1196, Warsaw, IN 46581-1196.
