Paul William “Bill” Reed, 94, Silver Lake, died Wednesday at Peabody Retirement Center in North Manchester.
Born in Lancaster, Ohio, to William O. and Della (Strawn) Reed, he was preceded in death on Sept. 10, 2009, by his wife Margaret Edith Kerlin whom he married on July 21, 1940, in Burlington, Ky.
A veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II, he worked at Indiana Glass Factory in Dunkirk, Delco Radio in Kokomo where he retired in 1975, Hewitt Tool and Die in Oaktown and retired in 1989 as an associate professor at Vincennes University.
Memberships include American Legion Post No. 418 in Walton for 50 years, V.F.W. in Wabash, a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge in Dunkirk, a 50-year member of Eastern Star Chapter No. 230 in Redkey and Onward Christian Church in Onward.
Surviving are four daughters, Janet Bowyer (husband: Jeff) and Rita McLochlin (husband: Pat), both of Logansport, Joyce Rose (husband: Kent), Galveston, and Terri Bischoff, North Manchester; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and two in-laws.
A celebration of life service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston with the Rev. Clifton Burton officiating. Burial will be in Ever Rest Memorial Park Cemetery in Logansport.
Visitation is 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
